Meet the people behind the scenes

President :- TBC

Vice President :- Chris Preece

Chris is a local businessman, who runs  T & C Heating & Plumbing Services Ltd of Blaenavon with his business partner Paul. Chris has been the clubs main sponsor for the past two seasons, and has been more and more involved with the club during his time as sponsor.  The club felt that for all the effort and money that Chris has contributed to the club, that he should take up the role of Vice President, and CHris was very glad to accept his new role, Chris is also taking a more active role on the clubs committee.

Chairman (acting):- Cllr Tom Huish

The club would like to welcome Tom on board so long a supporter of Blaenavon Blues and a former player, Tom who retired when Trico closed its doors a few years ago, has been a town councillor for many years. Tom is in his second spell as a Torfaen County Councillor for the Blaenavon Ward recently re-elected. Tom is also a former retained fire fighter and served the community with distinction, and is now the Mayor of Blaenavon, which i'm sure is a great honour for him to do! As Blaenavon increases its profile within the Wales, and UK as a tourist hot spot the role of a Town mayor becomes a very busy one. The club hopes that Tom's appointment as President will help to drive the club forward.

Vice Chairman (acting):- Jeff Huybs

Secretary:- Craig Williams

Craig has taken on the role of secretary this season, and has done a fantastic job in re-organising the clubs administrational structure, basically he has brought the club up to date, with the use of spreadsheets, Emails, etc etc. Craig is not only the club secretary, but has been a first team regular for nearly ten years. He was also part of the first junior side under the current set-up to represent the club in 1994.Craig is a big driving force behind the club and is always look for ways to improve how the club is run.

Assistant Secretary/Programme:- Neil Cox

Neil has been with club for many years since returning from a spell with Mardy AFC and since then has been an ever-present first team player. Neil is a very versatile, hardworking and skilful player, which has seen him have spells playing up front and in defence but his most favoured, is in centre midfield.

Again, whilst a current player Neil has also taken over the role as Assistant Secretary of the club and has assisted Craig (Secretary) enormously this year with undertaking all aspects of the Secretarial duties. He is also a committee member and has help secure vital sponsorship for the club.

Treasurer:- Mick Brenton

Mick has been involved with the club for the past two seasons, he has taken on the role and more importantly the responsibility of club treasurer, a very difficult and at times demanding job. Mick has put a great deal of effort into getting the clubs financial records in order and has done a brilliant job in ensuring that the players pay their tote in a timley manner. Mick has been a great addition to the club over the past two years.

Web Editor/Programme :- Matthew Cox

Matthew Cox is not only a current first team player but is also the clubs website editor and active committee member. Matthew had the idea and set up the website approximately two and half years in an attempt to promote the club and since then the site has seen an unbelievable growth, with an average of around 7500 hits a year.

Due to the growth and interest in the website Matthew has worked extremely hard to ensure the site is updated and maintained regularly and continually looks for ways to make the site interest and more appealing.

In addition to his website duties Matthew is an active committee member and has again contributed to moving the club forward off the field in recent years, particularly securing sponsorship. On the field, Matthew is currently a regular 1st team player and has been for over ten years since progressing through the junior setup of the club

Commercial Manager :- T.B.C

Events Orgainiser :- Ryan Huish

The same as Neil, Ryan returned to the club a number of years ago following a spell with Mardy AFC. Ryan is a very experienced player who reads the game extremely well and whilst he has been a regular in the first team, injuries have disrupted his availability to play.

Ryan is always willing to help the club in whatever capacity and did, for a short spell, take over temporary joint management of the 1st team squad with Steve White whilst in the process of appointing a new first team manager. Ryan always assists managers with training sessions and is again an committee member.

Committee member : - Lee Wathen

Lee Wathen has probably been one of the best players the club has seen in recent years and is a fine example of the clubs junior system. Lee had spells playing for Cwmbran Town and could have undoubtedly played at a much higher level but family commitments and a desire to try and help steer the club back to Welsh League status has seen him stay at the club.

A recent addition to the committee structure but is making a gradual impact with events off the field.

Committee member/Programme :- Chris Tibbs

Chris is the latest addition to the club committee, he has recently taken on the role of programme editor, and will be a massive plus to the club with his background in English teaching. Chris doent play football but is a masssive football fan and the club is glad to have him on board.

Committee member :- Lee Freeman

Committee member : - Ian Watkins

Committee member :- Neil Reed

Programme Design :- Lee Freeman (Free Design, Blaenavon)
